City Employee Disappears After Reported Theft Of Thousands

Lubbock police are seeking a city employee who has been missing for almost a month allegedly after stealing thousands of dollars. Officers said 27-year-old Daniel Navarette was caught on surveillance cameras stealing more than 7,000 dollars in cash from the Civic Center, where he has been employed for several years..They say Navarette is also believed responsible for taking more than 11,000 dollars from the City Bank Coliseum. About a week after Navarrette disappeared, his jeep was found abandoned in Wolfforth. Police said his cell phone had been disconnected and he had a debit card that showed no activity. An uncle of Navarette, Tom Ryan, told KAMC-28 the family was concerned about his safety.  The Ryans have been legal guardians of Navarette since  he was eight year-olds old. Ryan said, quote: “He’s going to have to turn himself in eventually and I think he might as well go ahead and do that now.”
