Neugebauer To Refuse Congressional Pay If Military Personnel Aren’t Payed During Shutdown

Earlier this week, Congressman Randy Neugebauer announced he is cosponsoring a bill that guarantees that men and women in the military will continue to receive  pay checks and benefits if there is a government shutdown.

Now he’s gone a step further, announcing he will not accept his congressional paychecks whenever the government is shut down and military personnel are not being paid.

In a letter to the chief administrative officer of the House of Representatives, Neugebauer wrote, “I do not think it is appropriate for Members of Congress to receive compensation while our service men and women, and their families, who have already sacrificed so much, do not receive their well deserved compensation.”
