Lubbock Man Drowns Trying To Save His Nephew During A Lake Outing

A 32 year old Lubbock man drowned in Lake Texoma while trying to save a 3-year-old nephew who had fallen into the water. The child was rescued by family members but Carlton Peters was overwhelmed by high waves in strong winds at the lake. The accident happened during a family outing on Father’s Day at the lake along the Texas-Oklahoma border. Peters, a father of two, jumped into the lake when the 3-year-old slipped off a sandbar where they had been fishing. A fund has been set up for the Peters family at Citibank.
