Two Estacado High Football Players Are Among Six Injured In I-27 Crash

A two-vehicle collision along I-27 in Lubbock has hospitalized two young men who played on the Estacado High School football team. Four others were injured in the crash just before midnight Sunday in the 2400 block of I-27 near Wild West nightclub. Critically injured and being treated at UMC is  18-year-old Samuel Jennings, who had graduated from Estacado only last week. He and seriously injured Shaquille Williams played on the Estacado football squad. Chad White, who was with them, was seriously injured. Police Lt. Jon Caspell said their18-year-old driver Jarrett White was heading north on I-27 when he lost control of his 2005 Chrysler Pacifica SUV and crossed the median into southbound lanes of I-27. Accident investigators say a 2001 Chrysler Concord hit the SUV. Jarrett White was treated and released yesterday morning. Police said the driver of the sedan, 22-year-old Kevin Torres, and his passenger 19-year-old Dyonne Lewis, were wearing seat belts and suffered minor injuries.
