Accused Killer Brought From California To Lubbock To Face Charge In 1989 Murder

A man accused in the 1989 killing of an elderly Lubbock woman has been returned to Lubbock face murder and other charges in the case. Forty-eight-year-old Reynaldo Rey was arrested earlier this month in Madera, California after evidence left at the Lubbock crime scene finally linked him to the murder of 93-year-old Minnie Elkins. Police say Rey is the man who raped, robbed, and killed Elkins in her home 22 years ago. He is being held in lieu of a 500,000 dollar bond.
