The Texas P.T.A. brought its pro-education campaign to Lubbock yesterday appealing to Governor Rick Perry to head off state budget cuts facing schools across the state. Representatives of the organization spoke at Murfee Elementary , with Texas PTA 2nd Vice President Leslie Boggs saying, quote: “Governor Perry please, do the right thing. Call the conferees and give them your thumbs up for the new revenue for public education. Put our students ahead of your campaign promises.” Texas PTA wants Austin to tap into the state’s Rainy Day Fund to spare the education system spending cuts which Boggs said are “gloomy and even scary.” P.T.A. representatives continue their campaign tomorrow in San Antonio and Austin.
