Charles Perry: Legislature Should Concentrate On Quality, Not Quantity

With the legislature possibly heading toward a special session, state rep. Charles Perry believes the system could be improved by putting a limit on how many bills a legislator could file during the regular legislative session…a limit of 10 for most  members of the house, perhaps an extra five bills for committee chairmen.

“I think if you did that, you would do multiple things,” Perry told KFYO.  “One, you would make us focus on purely credible and important public policy, and it would make us better at that.  Two, you would guarantee everybody that brought a bill to the floor would get it heard.”

Perry said such a system could cut state government in half.
