How The Paddling Bill Came Back To Life

On Wednesday, a bill that would require written permission from a parent before a student could receive corporal punishment was defeated in the Texas House, but the next day the House passed it.  State rep. Charles Perry, who voted against the bill, said the house passed it on Thursday as a courtesy to a supporter of the bill.

“The reason that went back through is the carrier of the bill was a senior representative that has a passion for this subject matter, and what happens a lot of the time is – and I hate to say it but it’s true — a lot of bills get done based on  the authors and who’s authoring them,” Perry said.

Perry said he doesn’t expect the Senate to pass the bill.
