Two Small Fires Extinguished Friday in Lubbock

Two small fires in Lubbock yesterday were quickly extinguished by Lubbock Firefighters.

The first fire started at Clapp Park around 6:00.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. At 7:00, firefighters were called to extinguish a fire in a backyard of a home near 87th Drive and Louisville Ave.

The home was not damaged.

Fires are still blazing across most of the state today.

As you travel this Easter weekend please monitor radio broadcasts and watch for highway signs warning of wildfires.

Watch for fire fighters and traffic personnel.

If you encounter dense smoke, slow down and turn around immediately.

Before leaving on a trip, check the fire conditions along your route. Wildfires can quickly overtake your vehicle.
