Authorities are awaiting information from dental records to help identify a man who was killed yesterday when his pickup truck was involved in a fiery crash with a tanker truck near Slaton. The body was badly burned when diesel from the tanker truck ignited. Officers were trying to determine what caused the wreck. The pickup was traveling east on U.S. Highway 84 yesterday afternoon when it went off a shoulder, overcorrected and swerved into the westbound lanes into the path of the bigger truck. The fire broke out when the tanker rolled onto its side, spilling fuel. The pickup wound up wedged under the tanker truck. The driver of the pickup was thought to be 50 to 60 years old. The driver of the tanker escaped injury.
