A state Senate subcommittee headed by Lubbock’s Republican Senator Robert Duncan is recommending several options for raising more than 4 billion dollars in one-time revenue. Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst asked the subcommittee to look for ways of helping to deal with the state’s massive budget shortfall. Options suggested by Duncan’s subcommittee include selling state property, pushing large school payments into the next fiscal year and speeding up the collection of various taxes.
