Authorities suspect that an arsonist may have set off wildfires in Garza County. KAMC-28 says officials received a phone tip about a possible suspect, described as a man in his late 20’s who was driving a black pickup truck. Some flames from weekend fires continued to burn yesterday across Garza and Crosby counties. Investigators think that two fires that sprang up may have been human-caused, whether deliberate or accidental…The National Weather Service says critical fire weather conditions are expected this afternoon west of the Caprock. Near-critical fire weather conditions are anticipated over much of the KFYO listening area…. A Panhandle firefighter is hospitalized in Lubbock with burns he suffered while fighting a wildfire over the weekend. Authorities said Elias Jacquez of Cactus suffered third-degree burns over 60 percent of his body on Saturday. Cactus is about 50 miles north of Amarillo. Moore County officials said Jacquez was airlifted to a Lubbock medical center.
