Xcel Energy Files Application for 200 Mile Power Line from South Plains to Oklahoma

Xcel energy is seeking approval to build a new electric power transmission line to Oklahoma.

The company filed an application with the Public Utility Commission of Texas today to construct the new 200 mile line from a substation in Hale County to Beckham County, Oklahoma.

Xcel says the new line could help reduce congestion on the regional transmission system, improve reliability, and improve import-export capability between the regional power markets. If approved, the line would cost between $158 million to $172 million.
