Registration Set For Children’s Coverage Under CHIP, Medicaid

Parents will be able to apply for free or low-cost health insurance for their children at an event in Lubbock next month. The YWCA will host a session for registering in the Children’s Health Insurance Program, or CHIP, and in Children’s Medicaid.  CHIP and Children’s Medicaid cover doctor visits, prescription drugs, dental care, eye exams, glasses, and more. Registration will be held April 16th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Lubbock High School cafeteria. People wanting to apply for coverage should bring each child’s Social Security number and birth certificate, and proof of income for each family member.  Children’s Medicaid offers free health and medical services to children of income-qualifying families. CHIP is available for children of families earning too much to qualify for Medicaid.
