Big Brothers, Big Sisters Needs 200 Mentors

Big Brothers, Big Sisters is a well-known non-profit agency that pairs children with role models, a one-to-one mentoring program.  The problem right now is a lack of mentors.

Shyenne McAnally of Big Brothers, Big Sisters says about 200 children are waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister mentor.

“Studies have shown that after a child has a mentor, compared to children who don’t, that the child with the mentor was less likely to get into drugs and alcohol, to skip school or class, and more likely to become aggressive and hit someone, and also their grades and attitude drastically improve,” McAnally told KFYO.

Friday night at 7 o’clock, a fund-raising concert featuring Corby Owens and benefiting Big Brothers, Big Sisters, will take place at Fox and Hound.
