Jury Takes Under an Hour to Convict Man in June 2010 Murder

A Lubbock man will spend the rest of his life in jail for the murder of a 27-year-old mother in 2010.

Jurors took less than an hour today to convict 36-year-old Anthony Torres of Capital Murder, for strangling his girlfriend, Amanda Moreno to death last June, stealing her property, and kidnapping their kids.

During the trial, Torres said he sold the items which he stole from Moreno and their children for crack cocaine.

Authorities found both their 2 and 6-year-old daughters unharmed in Moreno’s car at the Canyon Lakes Park two days after Moreno was killed. Torres will spend life in prison, without the possibility of parole.
