Lubbock High School Senior Member of Winning Regional Team in Largest Science/Tech Competition

A Lubbock High School student is the member of a winning regional team, in the world’s largest student science and technology competition.

LHS senior Laura Xu and her teammates Youyang Gu and Brandon Sim have been selected as regional winners in the 19th annual Toshiba/National Science Teachers Association ExploraVision Awards Program. The group was selected as one of 24 regional teams from a group of more than 4,000 entries, and their winning project proposes using pollen as a delivery system for cancer-fighting drugs.

The group will now advance to the national ExploraVision Competition, where they will compete to be named among the eight national winners. The program challenges students to design technologies which could be feasible in 20 years.
