Lubbock Firefighter and Parents Killed in Sunday Airplane Crash in Dickens County

A Lubbock firefighter and his parents are dead after a Sunday plane crash.

Federal Aviation Administration Spokesman Lynn Lunsford said Monday that the Sunday accident in Dickens County killed the pilot, 40-year-old firefighter Jake Jenkins, and his parents, 71-year-old Kirby Dan Jenkins and 68-year-old Dorothy Jenkins, both of Rockdale. No one else was on the aircraft.

The plane was a 1946 Stinson 108, which reportedly crashed around a mile from the private airstrip that they took off from. No official flight plan was filed with the FAA.

The National Transportation Safety Board says the preliminary findings should be available within a few weeks.
