TWC Releases Statewide Employment Statistics, Lubbock Unemployment Rate Drops

The Texas Workforce Commission today released February employment statistics for the state.

The state’s unemployment rate dropped one tenth of a percent in February to 8.2 percent; below the national unemployment rate of 8.9 percent.

Nonfarm employment in the state grew by 22,700 jobs.  Lubbock’s unemployment rate dropped 3 tenths of a percent to 6.1 percent.

Other regional unemployment rates include Abilene at 6.5 percent, Amarillo at 5.5 percent, Midland continues to have the lowest unemployment in the state at 4.8 percent, Odessa’s unemployment dropped 4 tenths of a percent to 6.6 percent, San Angelo’s unemployment rate is 6.4 percent and Wichita Falls’ unemployment rate is 7.3 percent.
