Two Dozen Swimmers Treated For Breathing Problems At Hotel

Excessive chemicals are blamed for causing some two dozen people, mostly children, to become ill after swimming in a pool at a South Lubbock hotel on Saturday. Lubbock EMS was called to the Embassy Suites near Slide Road and Loop 289 shortly after 5 p.m. and began giving the youngsters and some parents oxygen for breathing problems. The victims were taken to Covenant Medical Center and UMC for treatment. Paramedics said the swimmers had been exposed to too much chlorine or hydrochloric acid. The City Health Department was investigating the incident.
