Bee Attacks Cause Closures of Two Streets in Northwest Lubbock Neighborhood

Bee attacks closed down two streets in a Lubbock neighborhood for much of today.

Two dogs were attacked by a large swarm of bees in the 4600 block of Eighth Street this morning, also resulting in a few stings on the responding owners.

A hive was found in the walls of a nearby storage building and pest control workers destroyed the hive and most of the bees.

Pest control responders say they believe the hive was full of common honey bees, rather than the Africanized “killer” bee.
