Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week Ends Sunday

Multiple sclerosis, or MS, is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system which interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body.

It is often disabling, and there is no cure. But the MS Society’s Michelle Meeks, who has MS, says relatively new medicines are inspiring hope.

“It wasn’t until 1993, not that long ago, that there was even one medication on the market to treat MS, and now we have several medications that are available,” Meeks told KFYO. “ Most of them are self-administered injections…to manage their MS and MS symptoms.

An MS fund-raising walk will be held in Lubbock on April 30. For more information, go online at .
