Elderly Howard County Man Convicted on Child Pornography Charges

An elderly Howard County man has been found guilty of child pornography offenses.

A federal jury in Abilene convicted 76-year-old Harvey James Pelland of Big Spring on two counts of possessing child pornography, and five counts of receiving a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Each count of possession of child pornography carries a maximum sentence of ten years imprisonment, and each count of receipt of a depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct carries sentences of no less than five years but not more than twenty years in prison.

Pelland was arrested in April 2009, and sentencing is scheduled for early June.
