Pat Knight Ends Tech Career With Raiders’ Tournament Loss

Both Texas Tech teams have been knocked out of the Big 12 Conference tournaments in Kansas City, Missouri—and the men’s defeat marked Pat Knight’s final game as head coach at Tech. He was fired Monday, effective at the close of the season. Both games were close. The Lady Raiders lost to Oklahoma in the final seconds 71 to 69.  A driving shot by Chynna Brown in the midst of Oklahoma defenders fell short just before the horn.  The Lady Raiders had led at halftime 35 to 32. In the men’s game, Pat Knight came out dressed for business, wearing a dark suit, white shirt and red tie, and his team played as if they meant business, too, before falling 88 to 84 to Missouri. Tech led by as many as seven points in the first half. Knight said his choice of business dress was deliberate. He said Tech people had treated him first-class and he wanted to be first-class for them.
