Friday Is Deadline For Lubbock Police Applicants

Five o’clock tomorrow (Friday, March 11) is the deadline to apply for a position as a Lubbock police officer.

The Lubbock Police Department will be testing potential police officers at 9 o’clock Saturday morning.  On Lubbock’s First News on KFYO, recruiter Walter Scott talked about things to consider if you are thinking about a career in law enforcement.

“Discuss it with your family and make sure it’s something you do want to do,” Scott said.  “Our academy is extremely intensive.  It’s 23-24 weeks long.  We crunch 2 years of college into six months.  It’s academically intensive and it’s physically intensive.”

Scott said recruiters look for applicants who have a clean criminal record, and they also check an applicant’s credit record closely.
