UPDATED: One Dead, One Wounded In Shooting At Central Lubbock Home

A double shooting during the night in Central Lubbock has left one man dead, one victim hospitalized and another man charged with murder after turning himself in to police. Police say three men got into a fight just after 11:00 p.m. at a home 1500 block of 26th Street. 31 year-old Taris Knight was fatally shot in the driveway. He was pronounced dead at UMC. The second victim, 56 year-old James Guess, tried to drive away from the scene but crashed his vehicle against a parked car five doors away. Guess is currently hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police say the suspect in the shootings, 58 year-old Cruz Aldaco, drove to the old Lubbock County Sheriff’s office in downtown, where he was taken into custody. Cruz Aldaco has been charged with one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault.  LPD is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
