Lubbock ISD  released a statement this afternoon addressing a recent trend of rumors and threats via text messaging and social media Friday afternoon.

LISD Superintendent Dr. Karen Garza said that “the abuse of text messaging and social media to create fear will not be tolerated…Lubbock ISD will take aggressive legal action against persons responsible for these reckless acts.”

A $200 reward for information leading to the apprehension of those making false threats and reports through Lubbock Police Department’s Crimeline is being offered by LISD.

The district says that Lubbock ISD police have investigated each of the threats thoroughly, and continue to be vigilant on their campuses.
