City of Lubbock Deactivates Emergency Operations Center – Leaders Warn That Fire Danger is Not Over

The City of Lubbock has announced that it has deactivated its Emergency Operations Center.  No NWS watches or warnings are in effect for the South Plains today.

Deputy Chief of Emergency Operations Lewis Treadwell is cautioning area residents that “we have a tremendous amount of dry grass that could ignite with a spark…we’re asking everyone to continue to use common sense and help avoid accidentally starting a fire.”
