Municipal Attorney for Many Area Cities Dies at Age 54

The city attorney for many area municipalities has died. Jean Edward Shotts Jr. died Monday at the age of 54 at a Lubbock hospital, after suffering a heart attack during a Shallowater City Council meeting.

Shotts, who was the city attorney for twenty-one cities in the area, including Aspermont, Brownfield, New Deal, Paducah, Shallowater, and Wolfforth, was a founding partner of Shotts, Trevino, and Guevara, and received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the Texas Tech school of Law in 1981.
