Texas Tech Radio Station Loses Bid for Station in Permian Basin

Texas Tech’s primary public radio station, KOHM-FM, which operates as South Plains Public Radio, has lost out on a bid for a public radio station in Odessa.

Odessa College is selling their public radio station KOCV-FM.  The winning bid came from Marfa Public Radio, which established its own public radio station five years ago.  Marfa Public Radio plans to upgrade the signal of KOCV-FM, so it will fully cover the cities of Odessa, Midland and Andrews.

Texas Tech currently owns three radio stations, KOHM & KTXT-FM in Lubbock and KNCH-FM in San Angelo.
