New Tech Regent Acknowledges Error On State Appointment Application

New Texas Tech regent John Steinmetz says it’s an innocent mistake in his resume that wrongly says he took part in a graduate degree program. The Dallas Morning News reports that Steinmetz also wrote on his state appointment application that he completed graduate studies in finance. Not so. The banker from Lubbock acknowledged yesterday that he did take part in extended studies at Tech. The community banking course was taught in one-week increments held over two summers, which Steinmetz completed in 2005. Steinmetz says in hindsight he should have listed the course not as graduate school, but under the degree and study category of “other.”  Steinmetz was appointed a regent February 1st by Gov. Rick Perry.
