Special City Council Session Takes Up Hernandez Seat Issue

The Lubbock City Council meets this morning in a special session to  decide one member’s future on the council.  The council’s 10 a.m. agenda is to “Take appropriate action as to the removal, dismissal, or vacating of the City Council seat for District 1, held by Victor Hernandez.” Hernandez owed nearly 11,000 dollars  in property taxes on his downtown office building for 2009 and 2010. KFYO first broke the story of his ineligibility to serve as a councilman under the City of Lubbock charter last week. Yesterday Hernandez paid the delinquent taxes owed on the property, according to the Lubbock Central Appraisal District website. KFYO will be at the special City Council meeting to bring you the latest developments in this story.
