Suddenlink and Viacom Reach Agreement

Right when it looked like south plains customers were going to lose a large number of popular TV channels, Suddenlink managed to settle a deal with Viacom after weeks of negotiations.

At midnight on New Year’s Eve, channels including MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and CMT were expected to be taken off air.

Suddenlink had ran commercials yesterday warning customers they would be losing the channels, but promising that they would see a deduction in their bills until the channels were put back on air.

However yesterday evening an agreement was made between the two companies.

Now in addition to the regular Viacom channels provided by Suddenlink, a new movie channel, EPIX, will be available.

This channel was the main reason negotiations took so long.

Suddenlink did not want to pay the 20% increase demanded by Viacom, and said the new channel was not in demand by its customers.

Whatever the details of the new agreement, Suddenlink did promise that they would absorb any difference in price due to the deal.
