Children’s Programs At Mahon Library Will Resume

Mayor Tom Martin says that because of problems caused by street people loitering at the Mahon Library, at times defecating on the property, children’s activities such as the Storytime  program are no longer  taking place.  But now that the city council has passed a curfew ordinance for the library and other city buildings, those programs will soon start up again.

“That’s the intent of the council and the library staff, to reinstitute those programs, because they’re very, very valuable.,” Martin told KFYO.

” There’s nothing more valuable to a community than the education of its children, so we do intend to start those programs once the cleanup is complete.”

Library officials say the programs will likely resume after the curfew ordinance takes effect, and the mayor says that could happen around the 8th of January.
