Suddenlink Continues Negotiations with Viacom

Suddenlink Communications is still in negotiations to renew a contract with Viacom that expires at midnight this Friday. According to Suddenlink, Viacom, which provides channels such as MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, and Spike TV, is requesting a 20 percent overall increase in what they are paid, including significant payment for a new network that has not been requested by Suddenlink.

Suddenlink Senior Vice President Pete Abel says that “in the unusual event these negotiations are unsuccessful and Viacom removes its channels, we reiterate our pledge to reduce customer’s prices by the cost of the affected channels for whatever length of time they are unavailable.”
