Beane Wants To Crack Down On Drivers Without Insurance

On Lubbock’s First News on KFYO, Councilman Paul Beane said he hopes to offer soon offer a proposed ordinance that gives police officers the authority to tow a vehicle if the driver is stopped and cannot provide proof of insurance.

“That is a major problem in the state of Texas,” Beane said.  ” There is a similar law that’s been in effect in Dallas since May of 2008, and it has really helped in the Dallas area with the Dallas police department. ”

Beane said he hopes the ordinance will be ready to present to the council by December 15th.
