Slaton police chief put on probation for improper time records

Slaton’s police chief has been put on probation for 90 days after an investigation led to charges that he had had been intentionally taking overtime and comp time for nearly three years. Police Chief Royce Goodson’s job did not justify such time. Slaton City Administrator Mike Lamberson found errors in Goodson’s last vacation request and turned findings over to the Slaton City Council. Afater a heated discussion last night  the City Council agreed to Lamberson’s recommendation to put Goodson on a 90 day probation, which will includes weekly meetings to review his time sheet. Goodson told the council everything was properly recorded and he hid nothing. He gained no money from the alleged overtime and comp time.
