Lubbock Co. Sheriff’s Office Implements Operation St. Nick

As area families continue to prepare for Christmas, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Department will be out in force working to reduce opportunities for burglars to put a severe dent in someone’s holiday.

Sheriff Kelly Rowe has implemented Operation St. Nick this month, reassigning officers to patrol in areas where increases in burglaries and property crimes have been seen. The Sheriff’s Office plans to increase the number of marked and unmarked cars patrolling area neighborhoods. This measure does not require extra taxpayer funds, since the patrolling officers are only reassigned on a temporary basis from other areas of the department.

The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Department also offers a vacation watch program to citizens living in unincorporated areas of Lubbock County, which involves deputies randomly checking in on homes while the resident is away during this season.
