Repeat DWI offender indicted in crash that killed Lubbock jailer

A Lubbock County grand jury has indicted a repeat DWI offender on aggravated assault and murder charges in connection with the collision that killed a Lubbock Sheriff’s Office jailer earlier this month. Police said 40-year-old Kellie Lewis had more than three times the legal alcohol limit when she crossed an I-27 median and broadsided the car of deputy Tommy Lamkin.  Officers arrested Lewis in her hospital room after the crash. Lewis had DWI conviction in 1999, 2001 and 2005.
