Lubbock Man Charged With Murder of 28-Year-Old in Castro County

A man in the Lubbock County Jail now faces murder charges.

24-year-old Serillo Cameron Deleon now has a murder warrant issued for him regarding the death of a man in Castro County last Tuesday. No warrant has been issued for 23-year-old Monico Elias Deleon, the other person of interest in the shooting death of 28-year-old Jared Kelley.

Both men are in the Lubbock County Jail on unrelated charges. Early last Tuesday, a man called 911 with a report that he killed someone. Authorities found Kelley dead in a pickup truck about 75 miles from Lubbock.

The caller told the dispatcher that he and his brother began to feel threatened by Kelley during a hunting trip and shot him. The two have reportedly admitted that they were on drugs during the incident.
