Bush Book Mentions Lubbock, Hance, Tech

In Chapter 2 of Decision Points, the recently released book by former President George W. Bush, Bush writes about his first campaign, running for Congress in 1978 against Democrat Kent Hance, in a district that included Lubbock.

Bush and his wife Laura temporarily moved to Lubbock during the campaign, using Lubbock as a base to campaign in rural counties.  Bush specifically mentions Levelland, Plainview, and Brownfield, and then Muleshoe in Bailey County, where he had earlier received 6 out of 230 votes cast in the May primary.

Hance defeated Bush in November, and is now Chancellor at Texas Tech.  Bush of course eventually became the 43rd president.
