Tanks stolen in New Mexico wind up in Dimmitt

In New Mexico, a Portales man has been convicted of receiving stolen property in the theft of seven stainless steel tanks belonging to the City of Clovis. The tanks wound up in Dimmitt, Texas. Authorities say 63-year-old Thomas Campbell offered in the summer of 2007 to purchase the tanks. Prosecutors say while the city considered his offer, authorities learned the tanks were transported to Dimmitt. Police learned the tanks had been resold to a third party for use in a biodiesel plant.
