District 84 Election: Texas Two-Step?

You might call it a new version of the Texas two-step.  Voters in district 84 face a two-step process to elect a replacement for Carl Isett.

The ballot lists two candidates, John Frullo and Carol Morgan,  for a special election in which the winner will serve the few weeks remaining of Carl Isett’s term.  Further down the ballot, the same two candidates are listed in the race for a two-year term, and as election administrator Dorothy Kennedy  confirms, it’s theoretically possible that the winner of the special election will serve just a few weeks, in the unlikely event voters split their votes.

“Whoever wins …the special election will serve only until December 31st.. only about six weeks, because the commissioners won’t canvas the election until November 10th, and then the governor has to canvas the… election.,” Kennedy told KFYO.

Has Kennedy considered promoting this double election with the slogan “Vote Early, Vote Often?”

” No!”
