Clovis Road motels are abandoned, left wide open

Lubbock authorities are keeping an eye on two Lubbock motels that apparently were abandoned by the owners. Code enforcement officials say they were notified on September 11th that no one was running the Sunset and Satellite Motels on Clovis Road. Inspectors found no one around and doors to rooms wide open. Notices have been posted saying it is illegal to occupy the rooms. Code inspectors lack authority to close the doors, pending a go-ahead from a structural standards commission. That body is not scheduled to meet until December 14th.
