LP&L-Xcel Deal Nears Completion

The time is approaching when Xcel energy customers in Lubbock will be switched to LP&L.  

On a recent interview on LFN on KFYO, Mayor Tom Martin announced that all the governmental approval needed for Lubbock Power & Light to buy Xcel Energy’s distribution system in Lubbock has taken place. 

Martin said that after the the sale Wednesday of the bonds that will finance most of the purchase, the proceeds will be delivered, and the transaction should be closed on Friday, October 29th.  Martin said on the next day, the 30th,  all the customers of Xcel within the city will become customers of LP&L.
