Southwestern Public Service’s expansion plans described online

Xcel Energy’s Southwestern Public Service Company has launched a new website that provides information on the company’s transmission expansion projects in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. The new website can be found online at www.powerfortheplains.com. This past spring, the Southwest Power Pool approved a series of new transmission lines in several Xcel Energy states including Texas, New Meixco and Oklahoma. The pool is a regional transmission organization mandated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to ensure reliable supplies of power at competitive wholesale prices. As a member of the pool, Southwestern Public Service proposes to build more than one billion dollars in new transmission lines and related facilities over the next six years.
