Texas Tech to Offer Dual J.D./M.D. Program

A new dual doctoral degree will soon be available at Texas Tech.

The University is now offering a Doctor of Jurisprudence/Doctor of Medicine dual degree program, which will allow the students to complete both degrees in six years, rather than the usual required seven years to do both separately. The TTU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine and the School of Law are the first nationwide to offer the program at one institution.

Former Tech School of Law Dean Walter Huffman said “This program is important because it enhances Texas Tech’s national reputation as one of the few universities to offer this prestigious joint degree, and even more important because it provides a unique joint-disciplinary education that will benefit our society.”
