Former Lubbock Police Officer Found Dead of a Single Gunshot in Backyard

A former Lubbock police officer found dead in a South Lubbock backyard this morning spurs police to search for answers.

Eric Seville was found dead of a single gunshot wound in a backyard located in the 3400 block of 102nd Street around 10:15 this morning.

Seville was found by one of his friends, who then alerted police. Two guns were found near where Seville had fallen.

Police have said that the circumstances seemed suspicious.

Seville was a 2003 graduate of the Lubbock Police Academy, and left the force on good terms in 2005 to work as a pilot.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow morning.
