Texas Tech’s Myers Announces Retirement

Earlier today, Texas Tech Athletics announced the retirement of Athletic Director Gerald Myers. Texas Tech President Guy Bailey commented on Myers retirement saying “Throughout his storied career, Gerald has been a gentleman. He is well respected by his peers throughout the big 12 conference and across the country, and has represented Texas Tech well.” Under Myers’ direction, the athletic department saw a budget growth of $38 million. Myers’ retirement will take effect May 31, 2011.  As a student-athlete, men’s basketball coach, administrator and athletic director, Myers has spent 55 years with Texas Tech University.  He has served as Athletic Director since 1996.
