Lubbock City Council to consider buying two more project-damaged homes

Several Lubbock homes on 98th Street between Albany and Huron have been endangered by a 1997 sewage project to repair sinkage of the street. So far, the city has bought about ten affected homes and vacant lots in the area, and KAMC-28 says tomorrow City Council will consider purchasing two more homes. But one homeowner feels left out. Ken Keeler says his home at 98th and Elkhart has more than 100 cracks, both inside and out, and he says it seems obvious that the city is responsible. Mayor Tom Martin says extensive testing around Keeler’s home has shown that the city is not responsible for the damage. The city did buy a vacant lot north of Keeler’s new residence.
